Our Edmonton head office is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to develop, implement, and oversee various aspects of human resources management. As the sole HR Generalist, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the growth of the corporation by fostering a positive, dynamic, respectful, and psychologically safe work environment through talent acquisition and retention. The successful candidate should have the following:


  • Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources or comparable experience.
  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist, Coordinator, Manager, or comparable role within the construction and/or engineering industry experience is an asset.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of HR disciplines including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, engagement, compensation, benefits, training, policies, and payroll.
  • Highly developed emotional intelligence with a successful track record for developing professional relationships.
  • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or working toward designation is a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR-related legislation including but not limited to Alberta Employment Standards Code, Saskatchewan Employment Act, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and Workers Compensation Board (WCB).
  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal, with meticulous attention to detail.


  • Provide advice and expertise on best practices, recruitment, conflict resolution, Equality Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) initiatives, legislative requirements, performance management, progressive discipline, and more.
  • Ability to navigate difficult/challenging conversations, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills and the capacity to demonstrate neutrality in facilitating constructive resolution.
  • Suggest, create, and update internal policies, processes, and procedures to continually improve efficiency and the employee experience.
  • Partner with leaders to provide guidance in addressing and resolving employee concerns, maintain company culture, and identify when to involve additional stakeholders.
  • Lead the full recruitment cycle including creation/updating of job descriptions, job posts, screening, interviewing, references, and job offers.
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, performance management and training, exit interviews, and more.
  • Administer benefits, payroll, compensation changes, and employee data.
